General Information: Overview: Who We Are: Joan Noge Ackerman

Joan Noge (Wild Flower) Ackerman is a retired social worker. She is the Elder at High Mountain Crystal Lake Zen Community in Wyckoff, NJ and will become a Dharma Holder under Sensei Genki on June 16, 2007. ÊShe began her practice in the Rinzai tradition under Maureen Freedgood in the late 1970s. She later sat with one of Maureen's students, Sheila LaFarge, in Harvard, MA, taking Jukai with her in 1985. In 1990 Noge returned to NJ and sat with a peer led group associated with Roshi Kennedy. In 2001 she began practicing with Genki and took Jukai with him in 2005.
